Those are great tips, thank you. But why not just switch to XFCE instead of tweaking GNOME, which is pretty much going in the wrong direction (productivity wise).

Simple, and useful. I'll be trying this.

Note that the latest version of gnome-gmail will set itself as the preferred email handler on installation. If that is not what you want, go to the "Default Applications" in "System Info" to set it back.

Hey, glad you enjoyed my rambles about my netbook. I expect your experience may vary with your hardware. Fedora is not famous for having great hardware detection so it could be more tricky than UNR. I would suggest giving their live CD (or USB even) a try and see how much needs tweaking before making the jump. Doing the actual installation from USB stick using unetbootin should work from any machine though. Good luck!

This is a great, little post. The past couple of months, I've been dabbling in Linux and it really amazes me. Now, I'm still quite the n00b,running UNR 10.10, but I'm learning. I've been reading over articles the past couple of days and I get it now, Linux is for you to learn how to use your computer, not the OS, when I started thinking about this it made me decide that I need to up my game and get a more solid distro, ie Fedora. I've been rambling, but now to my question...... I have a Acer Aspire One netbook (D250 model)and I was wondering if the installation method would work for my netbook?
